Jackson Shorten, a junior at Mountain View High, finished second in the boys 4A final by covering the 5-kilometer layout in 15:37.24 at the Colorado High School Activities Association state championship meet at Norris Penrose Events Center in Colorado Springs. Shorten improved from placing 18th in 16:37.5 last season. He was elevated from third to second following the disqualification of Green Mountain senior Grahm Tuohy-Gaydos, who was ruled to impede the path of Niwot junior Zane Bergen in the final 25 meters of the race.
